KARA 2nd Mini-album Special Edition

We all know "Honey" is going to be KARA's next track, but in addition, they are repackaging their 2nd mini-album and releasing a special edition which will include a couple bonus tracks, as well as a 32-page photo book. I don't care much for the repackaged album, but I'm glad they are coming back. And although I think Seungyeon's pretty nasty, I feel bad for this group and I truly hope they finally reach that #1 spot.

The girls will return via KBS Music Bank on February 13th and their special edition mini-album will hit store shelves on the 18th.

SHINee Stands By You

Rookie group SHINee who currently is taking a well deserved vacation, sang a beautifully rendition of "Stand by Me" off the Boys Over Flowers OST.

There's no background music and they sang it Acapella, showing off their strong vocal skills. SHINee is an awesome group and I can't wait for their comeback! Thanks to you know who for the tip.

Wonder Girls First Interview in English

The Wonder Girls are in America and they've conducted their first interview in English with World's on Fire Dipdive. They were invited to the Grammy Art exhibition in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, The Wonder Girls donned their "Nobody" gear so they had the wigs on... Personally, I don't find them that attractive with the wigs.

Although they seemed nervous their English wasn't all that bad. I thought it would've been on par with the youtube video, but it seems they've worked hard and improved. They each said their name, but for some reason Sun Ye called herself Sun, Ye Eun sounded like she said Yeni(?), and Sun Mi called herself Mimi. They even sang a little bit of "Nobody." Oh Yes, he sure is. Dennis Oh shows off his Michelangelo's sculpted bod in the Chinese version of Men's Health Magazine. It seems there are a lot of Koreans featured in this Magazine.

You know, I heard that a fine appearance is an indication of vitality and relatively few mutations. If that were true, Dennis is probably the healthiest specimen on earth. The spread looks somewhat antiquated and Bruce Lee inspired, with the weird shadows and awkward Karate poses, but let's not get distracted and focus on what really matters, okay? Rain’s Number 1 Rookie Is With Him

Rain's / Bi's number one rookie apprentice, Lee Joon is going to appear in Rain's upcoming movie Ninja Assassin as Rain's younger self.

J-Tune Entertainment officially stated that "Rain and Lee Joon would be appearing and that "Lee Joon is like a hidden card." Although I don't have high expectations for Ninja Assassin, I hope for this guy's sake that the movie does somewhat well. Otherwise he'll be like one of those hidden cards you find under your couch on moving day. Dusty and forgotten until someone realizes 10 years later that he was there the whole time.

Lee Min Ho Is Worth Good Money

The hot newbie actor, Lee Min Ho has shot to the top of the charts in a few short weeks! It's almost unheard of for a rookie actor to get so many lovecalls (no not the kind that you're thinking about) in such a short period of time.

Unfortunately for his fans, the only lovecalls he's planning to accept are the 20 different commercial job opportunities. However, right now they don't have anything definite because they're looking for commercials that would help his image instead of just adding to his bank account. Then again, he's one of the lucky few who can pick and choose in this crappy economy. Dang, he really does fit the bill of F4, seeing as how much dough he's going to be rolling in.

Idol group Big Bang’s recent book ‘Shouting to you in the world’ is actually more a book about self-development than one that is of Big Bang’s autobiography.

That was what Big Bang members said when they were holding a press conference on 6th February in Seoul Press Centre for the release of the book.

Member DaeSung said, “This book is not about our success stories but rather our true thoughts and experiences that we go through this while.”

Leader GDragon, “Yes, like DaeSung goon has said it, this book is not about success stories. Many people see us as the Big Bang who are always at a good spot. But what if we tell you we were actually floating stars? People will understand how we got to where we are now through this book.”

Member TaeYang, “The things we dreamt about before we debut as singers, the pain and troubles that we go through after that, the book will introduce to readers all these one by one. The book talks about our dreams as singers and also the future that we dream of and want to chase after for.”

And member SeungRi said, “When Yang Hyun Seok’s representative told us about the plan for this book, we were doubtful at first. But we understood that this is not the book about what we have done well, but about the dreams of 5 teenagers and how they were actually realised. We hope to embrace readers with hope and courage.”

The book ‘Shouting to you in the world’ was released on 28th January, has risen up to the #1 best seller place. Until present a total of 160,000 copies are sold.

Leader GDragon also talks about how of all the songs that he has self-composed, ‘Haru Haru’ has been the most meaningful one for him.

He said, “Even though I like all the songs, I personally think that ‘Haru Haru’ is the most meaningful one for me. Personally I thought the song is the one which has the biggest sacrifice meaning to it.”

GDragon also revealed, “Fans and students have sent me many books. Whenever I had the time, I would read the books. But to say the truth, I feel that my level of writing is not to the level of my lyric writing.”

GDragon also revealed about his upcoming solo debut, “Right now, TaeYang and I are working hard on it. But I will come out with my solo works 4-5 months earlier than TaeYang.”

BOA vs TVXQ

“Eat You Up” (Boa) and “Mirotic” (DBSK) both got in the finalist of “Music Video Awards 09″ (MVA) Dance MV Department, hosted by the biggest musical satellite channel “SPACE SHOWER”. Now they inevitably have to compete with each other.

MVA, which was initiated in 1996 and started to hold awarding ceremonies in 2003, now becomes one of the most popular awarding ceremonies. Besides DBSK and Boa, other top singers in Japan like Quruli and Perfume are also listed.

Will DBSK and Boa, from the same company, be able to beat other prominent Japanese singers and take the prize? We’ll see.

Lee MinHo’s Painful Secret Revealed

Alas! Our seemingly too-good-to-be-true Lee Minho has a painful secret.

Due to a 2006 car accident, Boys Over Flowers star Lee MinHo has an iron rod in his right thigh and knee. The accident injured his leg so badly he cannot take on action roles. He revealed that as a male actor, he had to hide the pain of this weakness. He was even up for a part in "Swallow the Sun" but had to pass because of the action scenes.

His doctors advised the overnight sensation to be very careful because if something were to happen to the bone, he could lose the use of his right leg completely. He spent several months in the hospital after the accident and even though it has been three years since the accident, he's still in the healing process. After filming wraps in April, Lee MinHo will undergo surgery to remove the metal rods.

Sometimes when Goo JunPyo is walking around it seemed like he was tottering or shuffling. I thought it was purposely done to enhance the character's obtuseness but I guess it really does hurt, especially in the cold weather. His manager compares the pain to what an obese person's throbbing knees would feel like.

SG Wannabe “Laugh then Cry” New MV

SG Wannabe is back to save K-Pop! Well one of them at least. Lee Sukhoon of SG Wannabe and Sukhee(?) have teamed up to release a digital single entitled, "Laugh then Cry (웃다가 울다가)." And as usual, it's a kickass track. SG Wannabe's vocals' never fail to impress, and Sukhee is not too bad either, although I have no idea who she is. But who cares, the song is great, enjoy!

Epik High’s Tablo dating actress Kang Hye-jung,

Quirky film actress Kang Hye-jung (Oldboy) has come out and confirmed that she is dating Epik High rapper (and short story writer) Tablo.

In an interview with Star News on the 5th, a source close to Kang explained, “Kang Hye-jung has a very candid personality and isn’t the type to hide the truth. She has revealed that she is dating Tablo.” The couple met last year — they’d run into each other by chance and were introduced by friends — and hit it off. They started dating shortly thereafter.

Kang Hye-jung was last in the KBS drama (and one of my favorites) Flowers For My Life and is currently working on her Hollywood debut film, Wedding Palace.

Tablo most recently released the album “Lovescream” with Epik High and is currently DJ-ing an MBC FM4U radio program.

Junsu is someone who has the ability to make people feel happy no matter where they are. Although he has left a deep impression with people through being a "comedian", in actual fact, he cannot do so in real life. The atmosphere, however, changes on set. He is really the moodmaker of the group. There is general consensus in the group that "Junsu is the most humourous member, and Junsu is also the calmest member". If shooting lasts late into the night, he tries to make the members and staff forget their fatigue and bring laughter to them by trying to make double-eyelids and coming up with comedic dance moves.

In addition, Junsu possess a kind heart as well (this was his reason for helping the manager to move tables even when he was sick. With a good personality, kind heart and charismatic voice, doesn't this make him "more and more charming as you look at him?"

Although Xiah Junsu's unique voice had undergone changes during puberty, it is more beautiful now than it was when he was young. According to Jaejoong's birth mother, Jaejoong's actual birthdate is the 4th of Feb.

She revealed it on her blog sometime in January.

She posted Jaejoong's baby pictures and stated that his birthday was on the 4th of Feb but changed it to 26th Jan for auspicious reasons.

Apparently, if Jaejoong's birthday was recorded as the 4th of Feb, it would bring him bad luck.

Tablo and Kang Hye Jeong are in love

It has been revealed that actress Kang Hye Jeong and Epik High Tablo are in a love relationship.

Kang Hye Jeong revealed it over a phone interview on the 5th, “We met in a gathering last year, and we are right now dating.”

Kang Hye Jeong and Tablo were introduced to each other by a common friend in a gathering last year. And 2 had then become closer after knowing that they both have special taste in music and movies.

Kang Hye Jeong has also personally attended Epik High’s concert performance, showing her love for Tablo. The news of their love relationship had gotten much attention from the media and fans - not many celebrities will be this open about their love relationship.

A friend of Kang Hye Jeong has also spoken about the news, “It is true, their love relationship. The 2 had met beautifully. They had thought that this is no need to hide it at all. Hope that fans will accept the 2’s love.”

SM Entertainment is holding another worldwide search for talent. The “2009 SM Entertainment Global Audition” officially starts in Korea on February 14.

They plan on traveling to 15 different countries this year including the U.S., Canada, Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Malaysia. SM is looking for fresh meat that is talented in any of these categories: singing, acting, modeling, dancing, and music composition. All applicants are welcomed, which means, anyone of any age or nationality can audition and try their luck at becoming the next BoA, DBSK, SNSD, SHINee, etc… The dates for the Korea auditions have been set but dates for the other countries listed are still pending. Check out SM Entertainment’s website for more info and updates on when and where they'll stop by your neck of the woods.

Big Bang& Kim Bum '71'

Big Bang's Seungri and KBS Boys Over Flowers' Kim Bum have been casted as main characters for an upcoming movie "71." Along with these two, a not so familiar face, Yoo SeungHo, also known as the "Little So Ji Sub", will play a role in this movie as well.

"71" is a story about 71 soldiers who fought in the war between North and South Korea on August 10th, 1950. The South Korean soldiers are led by their three commanders, Yun Chi Wook (Seungri), Park Han Seob (Kim Bum), and Eugene/Yoo Jin (Yoo SeungHo).

Let's just hope Seungri's acting is better than his singing. I don't wanna see any more of his crap crap crap crap! On the other hand, I have no doubts for Kim Bum. He has already proved that he is a great actor through his performance in KBS Boys Over Flowers. I'm looking forward to watching these boys on screen.

On a side note, for those who don't know who Yoo SeungHo is, he was born in 1993 and has already been in quite a few famous dramas and movies, although they were mostly minor roles. Hmm.. born in 1993, which makes him younger than most of us here.. Sigh, while this little fruitcake is starring in movies, I'm sitting here writing articles on my computer.. in my room.. alone. Sweet life. One of the best films he's ever been in, where he was a main character, was an old Korean movie from 2002, The Way Home. This movie is one of my all-time favorites. It will make you cry until snot is dangling from your nose, like polly-o string cheese. I recommend this movie to everyone and anyone out there.

The MNET Super 100 Idols

MNET has been slowly releasing various names for their "Super 100" Idols list for the past few weeks. Well now the full list has been released!

The list consists of artists both old and new and includes some of the biggest names in KPOP.

I don't know how the list was compiled (I'm guessing internal voting at MNET), but I was surprised to see Big Bang's G-Dragon at the top of the list. Korean music to go global

Top singers Rain, DBSK, Big Bang, Girls’ Generation, and Wonder Girls will join forces to promote globalization of Korean music. The 5 bands have been appointed by Minister Yoo of Ministry of Culture and Tourism, perhaps while he was having a fit of Korean Pride. The exact plan of action will be revealed on February 4th at the SM Entertainment headquarters. So far, all we know is that the groups will be working together throughout the year as leaders of the Korean music industry to globalize Korean music. Smells very JYP-ish, did he somehow infiltrate the government and take control to launch this mission?

Minister Yoo said:

“Those working in the music industry will come together with the government, in order to encourage globalization of Korean music.”


No one can be sure of what this means for our favorite bands or what the plans will include, but it seems that the government is taking an active part in spreading Korean music to different cultures. One can only hope the government is genuinely interested in using the singers to increase awareness of Korean culture rather than acting out of greed for foreign markets *cough JYP cough*

Boys Over Flowers cast is plagued with accidents

At first, everyone thought it was just a mere coincidence.. but the accidents keep happening to almost every member in the crew of the hit KBS drama series Boys Over Flowers.

During the past few weeks, the whole cast has been in accidents. Kim HyunJoong, Kim Joon, and Lee MinHo were all involved in car accidents and Goo HyeSun injured her head on set as well. It seems as if the whole cast is under a curse or something. After the three got into accidents a few weeks ago, that left all but Kim Bum to be involved in some sort of accident. And sure enough, Kim Bum's time has finally come. I can't help but think this is a bit creepy..

Last night, at around 9:00 PM while Kim Bum and his manager were on their way to a CF shoot, they were involved in a minor car accident. While the manager was leaning over to pay the fee at a tollgate, some idiot hit them from behind. He was probably plastered, because I don't think normal people bump into stationary cars. The manager was hospitalized due to his injuries, but Kim Bum, although his waist area was in pain, decided to go film the CF anyway. Oh, tough guy.

Kim Bum is now undergoing check ups at the hospital for the next three days. Hopefully he is restored to his perfect self, so we can see that charming smile of his once again!

FT Island photoshoot with new member

Idol group FT Island gets back on their feet with a new member after guitarist Oh WonBin left and filmed their new MV ‘Bad Woman’ today in Seoul GyeogGiDo.

Also featured in the MV is talent Seo Hyo Rin who will be acting opposite member Min Hwan in the MV. Another highlight to the filming of the MV will of course be the new member Song Seung Hyung (18).


Song Seung Hyun who will be responsible for the guitar and rap part as well as sub vocal said, “As a new member to take over the place of the member who just left the group, there is no doubt expectations for me. I will work harder future to show everyone a better FT Island.”

Big Bang is gone until… ?

Big Bang has ended all their current promotions as a group after the Big Show Concerts. We knew for some time now that they were planning to come to America in February, in preparation for G-Dragon's solo debut in April. Before that happens, Big Bang is planning a trip in Japan next week. They will hold a fan meeting and also appear on various Japanese TV Shows.

In the mean while, SeungRi will continue to focus on his solo career. With G-Dragon coming out with his solo act in April, just when will Big Bang come back once again as a group? Who knows, but hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later.

SHINee Open to New Opportunities

Korea boasts a number of idol groups, especially young, pretty, talented boy bands, and SHINee is starting to steal the spotlight with their cute image, catchy music and chic fashion style.

The Korea Times met the group last week at their agency SM Entertainment, while middle and high school students waited in front of the building in the hope of getting a glimpse of the young stars.

The group_ Jong-hyun, Min-ho, Tae-min, O-new and Key_ entered the room with a ``annyeonghaseyo!'' (loud and clear.) The young singers looked tired from their hectic schedule, with blank expressions and sleepy eyes.

However, their eyes lit up when asked how they became singers, answering that their love for music gradually led them to the entertainment business.

``After watching K-pop singers like H.O.T. on television, I started to mimic their dance moves. I loved it, and it turned out that I was actually good and so I went for an audition,'' Tae-min added.

Female fans are going crazy with these recently released pictures of the actor shaping a clay pot. Captured from one of the scenes in the hit drama “Boys Over Flowers“, netizens immediately took interest at how well Kimbum portrayed his role as genius potter, So Yijung.

Kimbum, who had no experience with dealing with clay prior to the drama, revealed that he had to take pottery classes; training for 5 hours each day in order to prepare for the role.

The result is something that Kimbum and the crew of BOF is proud of. They manage to make the scene as authentic as it can be without the use of any doubles and fans of the show are reacting positively to it

In the latest episode of Boys Over Flowers, which airs tomorrow, Goo JunPyo (Lee MinHo) and Geum JanDi (Goo HyeSun) finally share their first long awaited kiss that viewers have been waiting for. Too many times have they been interrupted, but now they've finally done it!

Goo JunPyo and Geum JanDi go on a double date with Kim So Eun and her boyfriend, Gong SooPyo, who is played by Lee JeongJoon. Because of Gong SooPyo's bad attitude on girls, Goo JunPyo gets angry and has a bad fist fight with him. (What's with all these Pyo's...?) The date ends horribly as Geum JanDi gets angry at Goo JoonPyo for instigating a fight, when Goo JunPyo was only trying to defend her. Geum JanDi realizes her misunderstanding of the situation, and then Goo JunPyo makes the move! -insert kiss here- Goo JunPyo, what a womanizer.

And not only will there be just one kiss.. there will be a second kiss in the following episode, episode 10.

In this episode, Goo JunPyo's mother takes away the dry cleaning business from Geum JanDi's family. Outraged by his mother's actions, Goo JunPyo kisses Geum JanDi infront of his mom on purpose, leaving her speechless and at a loss of words. Take that you bitch witch.

Goo Hye Sun’s Acting Passion, Even injuries can’t keep her down

Goo Hye Sun, who was injured during a shooting on the 28th, was discharged on the morning of the 29th and displayed her devotion to the shooting. After being discharged from the hospital, GHS went back to the shooting that took place in Yangban. According to the production crew, GHS didn’t show any signs of discomfort, and went about the shooting with the bright attitude she normally has.

The Staff, upon seeing GHS putting up a strong front, expressed their worries by repeatedly urging, “Please don’t get hurt anymore,” and wishing her a complete recovery. The production team agreed that GHS really acted “like a pro”.

On the 30th, Kim Sung Hoon, a representative of YG Entertainment stated, “GHS had to shoot the rest of scene they were shooting at the time of the accident. Luckily, she only had to act out the part after the swimming.” He also added, “compared to the other episodes, there wasn’t any many scenes that required a lot of physical movement.” “GHS’s devotion to her acting is very strong. She went straight to the shooting after she was discharged,” He said.

They are back with 90s old school style and they had their comeback stage on SBS Inkigayo on 1st February.

‘Like You’ the title song off their new single is a 80-90s old pop genre and their fashion style of their comeback will be luxury vintage which is popular amongst the young people these days.

SS501's Leader, Kim Hyun Joong, recently confessed on SBS Ya Shim Man Man 2 that during the filming of old variety shows, X-Man and Love Letter, he started to like a female celebrity at first sight. We don't know who this particular celebrity is, but Hyun Joong even said:


"I would think of her when I was on my way home after the program, and even when I was about to go to sleep."

I remember the times Kim Hyun Joong came out on X-Man. He was never really noticed, because the camera would barely be focused on him. If it wasn't for MBC's We Got Married, who would've known that behind his awkwardness, he was actually pretty freaking hilarious?

Also on the show, he stated,

"Even if the girl I liked was my friend's girlfriend, I would still go for her,"

He also went on to tell us that he actually stole his friend's girlfriend in the past. This was a shocker to me, since Kim Hyun Joong doesn't seem like the type to choose love over friendship. Looks like our boy Kim Hyun Joong is not as innocent and pure as we thought he was. He revealed that his first kiss was when he was in Junior High. What a bad boy.

After School gets shafted by Music Bank

Newly debuted Girl Band After School seems to be experiencing some bad luck recently.

Barely last month the group's leader, Park Ga Hee was revealed to be the ex-girl friend of Dong Bang Shin Ki's Micky Yoochun, her cyworld was spammed with so much bashing she ended up closing the page down.

Now the girls were not invited on KBS's Music Bank for the special episode filmed on January 30th.

After School's management stated:
"We received a call on the 29th that After School should not attend the January 30th episode of Music Bank. We're assuming they didn't have enough time to fit our girls into the show, but we were never given a reason."

Rumors speculate this change was due to Girls' Generation fresh comeback to Music Bank after the ban on all SM artists. As the rumors go Music Bank wanted to make more time for SNSD and therefore decided to cut down air time for After School.

An entertainment analyst recently stated his disappointment, delivering yet another low blow to After School:
"Female groups are focusing way too much on sexiness and looks these days. This type of behavior can actually backfire on them and be harmful to their careers. Singers should focus on actually singing and obtain popularity through the proper methods."

TVXQ gets SMAped!

TVXQ will guest star on the Japanese television show SMAPxSMAP. SMAPxSMAP is a popular show which is hosted by one of Japan's biggest boy band's SMAP, who is under the Johnny's Entertainment label.

Although SMAP was one of the least popular Johnny's groups, members of the boy band were able to branch out into television and other activities, which launched them into stardom, especially Kimura Takuya and Nakai Masahiro. SMAP is now one of Japan's most popular and longest running idol bands, as they debuted in 1991 and are still going strong today. The grand fathers of Johnny's Entertainment, if you will. Anyway, fans of TVXQ are extremely excited about them guest starring on SMAP's television show, as this is an excellent opportunity for TVXQ to further promote themselves in Japan and this appearance may even allow them to compete against KAT-TUN, when they go head to head on March 11th, 2009, with their single "Survivor."

It seems TVXQ has been gaining ground in Japan. Just last year, TVXQ was virtually banned from Music Station, due to JE's monopoly over the pop scene, but now JE has invited them to guest star on their very own boy band's television show? Perhaps TVXQ will also be allowed on Music Station now to promote their upcoming single... we'll find out soon!
