Kim Bum the criticism makes him become a good actor

On February 2, Kim Bum participated in an on-set interview, which took place during the taping of Woman Who Still Wants to Marry. A reporter asked Kim Bum how he dealt with criticism from viewers who have trouble sympathizing with the character he portrays on TV. In response, Kim Bum replied: “I cut off my ethernet cord few days ago,” revealing his ongoing struggle dealing with critics.

Kim Bum went onto say: “In the beginning, I didn’t really pay attention to what people said, but one day, I started taking notice… As I grow as an actor, and am able to give my best, I would be more open to criticism. I look forward to showing my fans more of my work in the future”

Kim Bum's populor in Japan

His first single ‘Christmas Eve’s Sky’ is gone up to #1 spot on various J-pop charts. The single features Kim Bum’s sweet vocals accompanied by a romantic melody and pretty lyrics, and has been well-received in Japan since it was released on 8th November.

And to commemorate his first single release and to celebrate Christmas , Kim Bum has also went down to Japan for a dinner show with 3,000 fans as an uprising Hallyu star.

Kim Bum’s company KingKong Entertainment said, “We didn’t expect the single to go up rankings on music charts so fast and even go up to #1 spot after it is released. The officials are also surprised with the results. And we would like to thank domestic fans. He will continue to work hard to bring good productions.”

Kim Bum is currently filming for MBC drama ‘A woman who still wishes to get married’ playing as couple with actress Park JinHee. The drama is set to air in 2010.

Kim Bum will make a cameo appearance in High Kick Through The Roof

Filming took place on December 11th and he's set to appear on the December 21st Episode, which is episode number 72. His role will be as a university student and nephew to Kim Ja Ok, and he'll use his charm to sweep former Sugar member Hwang Jung Eum off her feet.

When asked for his feelings being back on the set, Kim Bum said that he was happy and it was like old times, because most of the staff and the director were the same.

In other news, Kim Bum is also scheduled to star in a new MBC drama The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry, the sequel to the hit 2004 drama The Woman Who Wants to Marry. He will play a playboy character and have a relationship with actress Park Jin Hee, a woman that's 12 years older than him. His charm and appeal to noona's older than him makes him the perfect candidate for the role.

Good news for Kim Bum. He had a very high point with his role in Boys Over Flowers, but unfortunately Dream pretty much bombed. Hopefully his career is back on the upswing.

Kim Bum released a book

Actor Kim Bum recently put out a single album in Japan — after showing off his vocal skills with the song he recorded on the additional Boys Before Flowers — and now he’s putting out a photoessay collection.

Kim Bum said, “After the broadcast ended for my drama Dream, I traveled to England. Over ten days from October 23, I toured London and the surrounding areas, and I’ve gathered the photographs I shot into an essay collection. You’ll be able to see it soon.” The photos aren’t solely vacation memories but aims to promote an environmental message.

He added, “I’ve wanted to release a book that I put my name on, so this is a dream come true. This was my first trip to England, and I really enjoyed myself. I feel great to be able to experience the culture of environmentalism myself and introduce it [to Korea].”

Kim Bum in Unstoppable High Kick, more about it

His former Unstoppable High Kick castmates Kim Hye-sung and Jung Il-woo have already done it (Kim in the first episode and Jung more recently in the episode that aired on October 28), so now it’s Kim Bum’s turn to make a cameo appearance on that sitcom’s pseudo-sequel, High Kick Through the Roof.

Originally, Kim Bum was set to appear with Jung Il-woo but explained, “The director felt it would be a waste for us to come out at once. So when Il-woo hyung went to shoot, I went along and just watched. I’ll be filming soon. I think I’ll find out the concrete details of the shoot on that day. I’m already looking forward to it.”

In the original series, Kim Bum played an innocent, goofy high school student who was best friends with Kim Hye-sung (the two boys were unabashed with their best-friend love for each other, to the annoyance of Kim’s cooler, rebellious younger brother Jung Il-woo). For that reason, Kim Bum started out hating Kim Hye-sung’s girlfriend (played as a ditz by Park Min-young), and complications arose when he started developing feelings for her, too. According to earlier reports, Park is also planning to make a cameo, and if it happens, she’ll probably be next.

From what I’ve seen (and I want to see more), High Kick Through the Roof is cute and entertaining — if only it weren’t so long! It has been doing well in the ratings and raising the profiles of its young leads, namely Shin Se-kyung, Hwang Jung-eum, Seo Shin-ae, and Yoon Shi-yoon. With the numbers creeping up into the high teens, the latest episode drew a 19.7%, putting it within a hair of breaking the 20% mark.
